Executive Functioning Practice:
Executive Functioning is defined by Harvard University Researchers as a "set of skills." These skills revolve around planning, execution of commands, and organization. One of the main things we work on in the 4th grade is learning routines to help stay organized and focused.
During the summer, once a week at the same time each week (I suggest Sunday evenings before bedtime), sit down with your grown up and go over your schedule for the week. Use the attached document to help organize a basic weekly schedule.

- Your day should be broken out very basically into Morning, Afternoon, and Evening activities.
- Example: Monday Morning through Evening - Summer Day Camp. Tuesday Afternoon - Going to Grandma's House. Wednesday Morning - Work on Summer Reading.
- Each day has a To Do list. This is a great place to schedule chores, summer homework reminders,
- Example: Monday, May 29th - Sort Laundry, Read novel, work on Math Facts
- Each week has an Important Things to Remember section. This is a great place to write down upcoming plans, deadlines for summer work, or projects that you want to start working on at a later date.
